We would ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled start time. This is to enable you to complete medical information, change, relax, unwind and familiarise yourself with your surroundings so the treatment can commence at the scheduled time. Please note that late arrival will result in the treatment time being reduced.
Some therapies are not suitable for clients with medical conditions so please let us know if you have any concerns or medical conditions. It is important that you advise us in advance of any health conditions, allergies or injuries which could affect your treatment.
Allow our spa team to guide you in selecting which treatments are most suitable for you during this special time. Please note that use of the hydrotherapy area is not recommended during pregnancy. Spa treatments can be offered once you have past your first trimester in pregnancy.
A discretionary service charge of 10% will be added to your bill.
You are respectfully advised that the full treatment cost will be incurred if less than 48 hours’ notice is given of an appointment postponement or cancellation. Credit card details are required at the time of booking to secure your appointment. Group bookings of 5 people or more will require a 50% deposit per person to secure the booking and the cancellation period will be stated on your booking confirmation.
Swimwear is obligatory within the hydrotherapy area. Upon arrival you will be provided with a luxury robe, towel and slippers. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed during your body treatments, but we must ask that undergarments be worn – either your own, or the disposal option we provide.
To preserve the tranquillity of The Spa we request that all guests switch off their mobile phones and leave them within their locker. We request that guests keep noise to a minimum. The Spa at the Merchant Hotel is an adult only environment and open only to persons 18 and over.
Lockers are provided for your individual use, however, we recommend that you do not bring valuables into The Spa. The Spa at the Merchant Hotel does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal items.

The wellbeing of our customers has always been our number one priority. We have therefore put a number of subtle precautions in place to ensure our customers are able to relax and rejuvenate in a safe environment.
We are strictly adhering to government advice and are continually monitoring our protocols in line with ongoing updates on best practise and social distancing. The Spa has undergone a thorough risk assessment and all of our employees will undergo a Covid-19 Induction course before returning to work to ensure they understand and implement the procedures we have put in place.
All areas of the hotel are cleaned and thoroughly sanitized with the use of Oxivir disinfectant spray. Oxivir is a highly effective disinfectant which is used in hospitals and has been formulated specifically for controlling pathogen outbreaks and cleaning ‘high-risk’ infection areas. Staff have been trained in the use of our Oxivir disinfectants as well as personal and environmental hygiene protocols and are proactively preventing the spread of Covid-19. Special attention will be given to ‘high-touch’ areas.
Face masks will be worn by our Spa Receptionists when they are not behind the Reception Shield. Face shields will be worn by all therapists. Customers will also be required to wear a face mask during treatments and while in the relaxation room. A member of staff will provide you with a face mask on arrival.
We have reduced our list of Spa treatments in order to minimise direct face-to-face contact during treatments.
Unfortunately, our hydrotherapy area remains closed in line with current directives on social distancing. We are monitoring this situation closely and will reopen this area once it is safe to do so.
