Do you have a proposal idea but aren’t sure how to plan it? We can work with you to create your very own customised, one of a kind proposal at The Merchant Hotel.
The Rooftop Proposal
This proposal package includes private rooftop hire at The Merchant for two hours - weather permitting there is a choice of two rooftops (hot tub rooftop or the roof garden). All planning and itinerary will be top secret from check in at reception to the proposal itself. We will take care of getting you to the rooftop, no questions asked.
The Ultimate Suite Proposal
We have five bespoke Victorian suites at The Merchant, any of which can be decorated to suit your special occasion. Include as many of the “Little Things” as you wish and let proposal curator Arlene do the rest. She will ensure the suite is transformed only at the time you request so when you first check in and arrive in your suite, nothing is given away.

The Rolls Royce
Collected from your door and dropped off at The Merchant Hotel, indulge yourselves in the chauffeur driven luxury of our Rolls Royce Phantom. This would work well alongside the rooftop proposal or the ultimate suite proposal.
A Horse Drawn Carriage
Arrive at The Merchant in style in a beautiful horse drawn carriage. This would work well alongside the rooftop proposal or the ultimate suite proposal and a picnic can be added to this package at your request.
The 8-course Tasting Menu
The 8-course tasting menu is an experience in itself, perfect for you both to celebrate your engagement. This is a wonderful extra alongside any of the other proposal options. It could be added to The Rooftop Proposal or enjoyed on its own. At your request, a private dining area and musician can also be added to this experience.
It’s the Little Things…
All of our proposal packages include Champagne, roses, chocolates, tea light candles, lanterns, love signs, rose petals, personalised playlist, photographer/proposal curator (hidden upon arrival to capture the moment) and can be edited at your request. Your itinerary will be emailed to you the day before check in to agree everything and confirm one last time.
